The key ingredient in the Funky Mommy® Vitamin C serum formula is Chitosan Ascorbate. While it is a great antioxidant, it is a very potent inhibitor of collagenase, a destructive enzyme that weakens the primary support structure of the skin. Chitosan Ascorbate is a polyelectrolyte composed of ascorbic acid and polyglucosamine whereby the pure L-ascorbic acid is contained in a polyglucosamine ascorbate complex or microspheres. Due to the fact that L-ascorbic acid is highly unstable, our formula protects it until it reaches the skin. Thereafter, the natural skin enzymes break it down allowing the release for maximum efficacy. It increases collagen synthesis by 62% and inhibits collagenase by 50%.
